EFI Fuel Pump Roll Bar Mount


This is V2 of the Fuel Pump Mount. I made one for the low pressure carburetor pump, now I figured while having some
down time to make one for the EFI system that will likely go in at some point. The EFI pump was an SX Performance
pump. SX Performance pumps and related were bought by Edelbrock at some point so this will work for their pump
too. This is a lot of the same process as the Roll Bar Fuel Pump Mount Project, just with a LARGE EFI pump.

Needed Supplies

Aluminum Plate 3/16" Thick, I used 1/4"
Longer bolts for the bar mount (I used 2 1/2" x 1/4 16 for the Allstar)
Roll bar or Vibration Mount  1.75" Allstar (Jegs,  Amazon)
Low Cost 1.75" Roll Bar Mount McMasterCarr These are inexpensive. Used on the Fire Extinguisher Project

Tools used

Drill with a couple of bit sizes for 1/4" and 5/16" bolts (depending on pump and bar mounts)
Saw - Jigsaw, band saw, etc
Something to Measure with, right angle thingie also a help!

This is the SX Performance EFI Fuel Pump


This is the pump that needs to be mounted. This is the same pump as the Edelbrock Quiet Flow series. But can apply to most any pump that needs to be mounted to a cage or roll bar. This pump came with the pictured mounting clamps.

Sawing the Mounting Plate



Back to the mini-band saw (Swag table with Dewalt porta-band). I had a bit of 1/4" left from the last fuel pump mount so I squared it up and sliced it to the size. Length is about the full length of the pump and width is enough to catch the mounting legs of the pumps brackets (with plenty of meat near the edges) .

Love the smell..., yeah it's bad for you... Ok, start measuring things up. Look at the how I did this on the first Fuel Pump mounting project, but just really center things up and mark. Center punch where you want to drill and go.

After messing around with measurements (a calculator can help) I marked, center punched and drilled the holes. After drilling I hit them with the chamfer to get rid of any sharp edges.

Fitting Roll Bar Mounting Clamps


These are the Longacre clamps, you could have also used the less expensive vibration mounts from McMaster Carr. The holes actually line up and didn't need any 'Oval' drill work for a change.

Adding the EFI Pump and Brackets


Added up the EFI pump to the mix now. You have to coerce the brackets a bit since they are not totally flat on the mounting surfaces. Otherwise a pretty good fit here. Note the fillets on the corners, you will thank me later if you do this.

Looking for Metal To Remove


Flipping over just looking for safe areas that can be easily removed with a hole saw (Rotabroach). Since I used way to thick of material I can feel good about removing some.

If you don't know what these are look here at Blair Rotabroach's (It's on my Site), you can easily just use regular hole saws to get the same effect. This is the basic pattern and size I'm going to cut.

Holes, Good and UGLY


Lost it on one of the holes. As I was cutting I let the material slip a bit on the start, and that was it.

This is the non-botched side of the bracket. I hit it with some wet-dry sandpaper in one direction to give it a nice look. Paint if you must, but I do like brushed aluminum. The back is not quite as nice...

Sanded a bunch but would take a lot to remove the scars from the botched job. This will be the back side that can't be seen. Yeah, that's it.

All mounted up, looking at the side. Fasteners will be changed up a bit when actually mounted to the roll cage, but these are good for a start.

This is the pump and brackets in all its glory. This is a LARGE and heavy pump. The mount will be sturdy for rough roads the Tiger may see.

The Wrap Up



Not much new here, for more details on what I did look at the Holley Pump Mount I did. All along the same lines, just this pump is a lot longer. Most of the ideas are the same.
